Bipedal robots & advanced robot drives

Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (HSBI) with its more than 10,000 students stands for the highest standards in teaching, research and knowledge transfer. The departments of Design, Minden Campus, Engineering and Mathematics, Social Sciences, Business and Health work in an interdisciplinary, research-based and closely networked manner. Regional and international cooperation as well as lived diversity and sustainability characterize the work at the Bielefeld, Minden and Gütersloh campuses.

MYBOTSHOP is a company based in the west of Cologne, near the Dutch border, which started its activities in the field of robotics, especially ROS-based systems, in 2018. Due to the complexity of the distributed products and a steadily increasing demand for robotic total solutions for the research sector, system integration for universities and research institutes is one of the company’s main areas of activity.

In the context of the project “Career@BI”, the Department of Engineering and Mathematics in cooperation with MYBOTSHOP GmbH is filling a tandem position as soon as possible as

The aim of the project is to promote young scientists and to qualify suitable candidates for an appointment to an HAW professorship or for a leading R&D position in industry. Within the framework of the tandem position, you will gain practical work experience and get to know the everyday life at a university of applied sciences. Under the guidance of mentors from the university and the partner company, you will also expand your teaching and research experience, take part in qualification courses, and thus expand your competence profile for a later appointment as an HAW professor.

In addition, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (HSBI), together with MYBOTSHOP GmbH, has set itself the goal of developing lightweight, highly integrated robot drive systems in the application field of walking machines and exoskeletons in the area of tension between basic and applied research in a joint research project. These popularly known smart actuators (BLDC motor incl. gearbox & power driver) are already used in a variety of robotic systems – one of the best known is probably the ANYmal of ANYbotics (formerly ETH Zurich).
We, on the other hand, focus on “less is more” and would like to expand our expertise in bipedal robots.
